Construction Scope and Change Order Management

The way Project Managers define and manage project scope, including the effective handling of change orders, plays a significant role in determining the outcomes of a Built Environment project. This course covers the fundamental principles of scope development and control, teaching students how to use industry tools and techniques to manage scope and change orders effectively to ensure successful project delivery in the Built Environment Industry.

Through six comprehensive sections, students learn to align project scope with business objectives and establish clear performance outcomes. The curriculum covers essential areas such as utilizing the Project Definition Rating Index (PDRI) for scope evaluation, implementing effective scope governance structures, and managing change orders productively. Students also explore modern technology platforms that support scope management and automation, while learning best practices for stakeholder buy-in and methods to prevent scope creep throughout the project lifecycle.
